Paddle Across the Tidal Basin

The Jefferson Memorial across the Tidal Basin in DC

More than anything else, Washington, DC is a city of monuments and memorials. One of the very best is the Jefferson Memorial. Did you know it ranked 4th on the American Institute of Architects’ List of America’s Favorite Architecture? You’ll believe it when you see it! For a really unique view, forget about tour buses—instead, travel like a local: take Metro and head directly to the Potomac Tidal Basin.

From 10 am to 6 pm every Wednesday through Sunday, you can go sightseeing greener (and cheaper!) and rent a Paddle Boat from the dock. It’s a steal at just $6/hour per person. Enjoy a leisurely trip across the basin to see the Jefferson Memorial and marvel at how sparse the crowds are when it’s not cherry blossom season. The weather here in September is absolutely perfect for a day on the water, and feeding the ducks beats sitting in traffic any day of the week!
